JOB DESCRIPTION

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and evaluations using relevant laboratory data, medications, supplements, dietary patterns, lifestyle factors, and health history as appropriate.
• Develop individualized, evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle plans based on client's health history, goals, needs, preferences, and circumstances.
• Translate nutrition science into practical, understandable recommendations.
• Provide ongoing coaching, encouragement, accountability, and follow-up.
• Collaborate and communicate with healthcare team to provide coordinated, whole-person care.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation.
• Stay current with nutrition research, clinical guidelines, and emerging areas of nutritional science.
• Contribute to a positive, supportive, family-oriented team culture.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an accredited program.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential.
• Current state licensure/eligibility for licensure as required.
• Strong clinical nutrition knowledge and counseling skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Experience or advanced training in any of the following is a plus:

• Functional or integrative nutrition
• Diabetes Education
• Eating disorders

Additional certifications such as IFNCP, CDCES, CSSD, CEDS, NBC-HWC, or other relevant credentials are welcome but not required.

This role focuses on empowering patients through evidence-based behavioral coaching, tailored lifestyle modifications, and modern diabetes technology, rather than relying on restrictive dietary templates. The ultimate objective is to assist patients in achieving optimal glycemic control, increasing Time in Range (TIR), and improving overall quality of life within a collaborative, multidisciplinary medical environment. This role will support both inpatient and outpatients for those with diabetes including patients enrolled in SC MOMs (high-risk pregnant patients).

Responsibilities:
Communicate with and counsel patients per physician orders and diet instruction.
Communicate with physicians and other involved disciplines in patient care.
Evaluate referral orders to determine adequacy of nutrition intake methods.
Document pertinent information in the patient's medical record according to established standards.
Implement nutritional care plans, adapt menus, and assist patients with special dietary needs.
Conduct calorie counts and make appropriate recommendations.
Review, revise, and sign off menus for nutritional adequacy.

Qualifications:
Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association
State licensure required.
Membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.
Bachelor's/advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in Food & Nutrition.
One year of Clinical Dietetics experience preferred.

Clinical Dietitian and Bariatric Dietitian - South Carolina
